This is the place to exchange ideas with other members. We may reward useful new topics and responses with sharing credits :)

Question about ProShare Review Service:
It seems that my first song was "listened" to by five reviewers. One person listened to the entire song (thank you!), another person listened to about 30 seconds chosen from the middle of the song (OK, thank you), three others listened for one second each at various points in the middle of the song, and one person "listened" for zero seconds at the beginning of the song. How should I interpret this data? Altogether the song was given a three-star rating.

Thahanee FREEiYes this need to be fixed. Those are not the same listening whole song and some of the middle point and giving low rating. However it depends on their taste.
But I think its better to leave without playing for one second and giving low ratings.
We can keep our good ratings

Hi Jim,
good point actually. Let me explain how we measure stuff. So when a label opens a song to start playing it is considered a "play". However, we measure each 500 ms or so whether they are still playing and save this information.
So in some cases, they hit the play and just leave it there OR they have like a very slow bandwidth that prevents the player from continuing.
Also we know in many cases the A&R of labels really just skip like 3-4 times though a track and listen very shortly to check if it grabs their attention.... this is the unfortinute reality of labels receiving hundreds of songs each day ????

Jim Swan FREEI hate to sound like a whiner, but I've just had the same experience again. An outfit called SEED listened to the first ONE SECOND of my track and passed on it. How can anybody make a determination about a track based on listening for one lousy second?

Marco Rossi FREEthe label "Minus" didnt even register as listening to any seconds of my track or leave a rating but this was classed as a listen. Why would this happen and will it affect my average track rating stat?

Proshare Support Some labels choose to download the track instead. so than you cannot see what parts are listened. when no rating is given it won't affect anything. So you are all good. We understand it would be nicer if you get feedback. But we can not force labels to give feedback on all tracks. In the search results you can see the average response time of labels. Hope that helps!
